When I sit back and unwind, I wonder about my voyage from childhood to where I am right now. I think about those years when I was a toddler, who used to go to nursery, walking down the road with my mother, or occasionally with some other family member. Come afternoon, and I used to get cheerful again at the sight of my mother standing at the school gate, waiting for me with a smile. Going back to home was always good as there were enough ice cream and chocolate shops on the way, even in those days in 80’s. Surely, there were no McDonalds and Pizza Huts. Soon I got admission in St. Joseph’s Academy, Dehradun. It was here where I got one of the finest educations that anyone can get, at least in India. Certainly a right choice!
Kindergarten to class 8 was just like a breeze. It is the time when typically every child gets into a regular program mode, just like an automatic transmission car. The gears change on their own. Of course there are many humps in between, like examinations, peer antagonism, friendship, coaching classes (not in my case), sports, and what not. It is class 9 when suddenly all the cars find a sharp turn in their so-far-smooth paths. Yes, you got it right, it is the BOARDS fever. It is this time when people start asking about board preparations. Or if not preparations, they start infuriating you by asking about the forthcoming giant hurricane, which every one of us needs to sustain, no matter what happens. Come board examinations, and we are all set to accelerate to full to cross the finishing line. And yes, we do, unless again we comprehend that there is one more concluding line after that, and so on. Honestly, the final line never comes. In fact it keeps moving ahead. For those of us who make the right choices, keep moving on faster, and those who don’t, still keep moving maybe in the wrong direction or sometimes even in the right direction. No matter what the course may be, one thing is apparent; all of think that the destination is just a mile away. Coming back to the point, it is again at this stage in school that we, with the help of our parents and friends (sometimes even by force) take decisions that make our future paths. Again a matter of choice!
The car keeps moving, and passes by several turns, taking an individual from one phase to another. One of these phases is work life, another superficial finishing line. It is here that we realize that there are many more endeavors to come, in the form of happiness and sorrow. All of these are again guided by our choices. Having said that, I feel that somewhere or the other; we make choices not because we need to keep the vehicle moving, but because we all are selfish in some way or the other.
To be continued…soon..

Yes choices :) A quote from 'Silence of Lambs' to ponder..
Dr. Frederick Chilton: "I am going to show you why we insist on such precautions. On the evening of July 8th, 1981, he complained of chest pains and was taken to the dispensary. His mouthpiece and restraints were removed for an EKG. When the nurse leaned over him, he did this to her."
[pulls out photo]
"The doctors managed to reset her jaw more or less. Saved one of her eyes. His pulse never got above 85, even when he ate her tongue."
I saw this movie couple of years back!! ;)
